A follow up on Minaal

So I emailed my dream bag makers Minaal.com to see if they could sort me out with one of their epic.bags by D-day next year.  Considering they start manufacturing around d-day this could be quite an ask. I'll keep you posted when I hear a reply

A revelation

Just had a revelation about why it's good to pack light when you are forgetful like me. Means you only have to keep track of minimal amounts of gear.

Minaal backpacks

I have my heart set on travelling light and with great quality gear. So my backpack is a huge part of that. Completely by coincidence a couple of kiwi guys are making some big waves in the, compact, high quality travel space. The team at www.Minaal.com have designed my perfect backpack and I am in the process of pre-ordering now. You should all check it out, it's really a great bag. Full review to follow.

Travelling light and happy

Early on in my decision to travel, I stumbled across a website called "travel independent ". This was a great size which advocated the benefits of travelling light (like 40L bag light - most people travel with close to twice that).  based on this site I have been slowly researching a small amount of quality gear to take with me on my travels. All up I will probably take 20 items with me when I go, so I want to make sure that they are great quality stuff.  Ie this is why I got the Xperia Z1 (camera, blog, music player, movie player, email, map, all in one).

My travel computer

How good is that feeling when you have been following a product that you really wanted for a year and a half, you finally get it and it lives up to the hype? This is how I feel about the SONY Xperia Z1.

I want to travel super light, so the idea of packing a laptop (and all the added hassle) did not appeal at all.  I also wanted to stay in contact (like this blog). Which is why the 5 inch, 2.4 quad core processor with ample speed, connectivity and durability (it's waterproof and dustproof) in the Xperia Z1 was such an essential choice.

I'll cover it off in more depth later, when we talk about electronics, but right now it's like being a kid at Christmas.

The first post

All good stories have to start somewhere and this one starts at my desk in overcast Auckland.  welcome to my new blog Here, There and Everywhere (HTE for short). This blog aims to document the good decisions and bad decisions I make as I prepare for travelling parts of the world (I'm going to put a caveat of 'parts' on it at this stage). At a later date it will also catalogue some of the interesting and maybe boring things I encounter.  I hope you can forgive me for the self-indulgence of this blog, I blame social media and a desire to keep a journal.
